Happy 15th and 16th Anniversary to Us!

Our fifteenth anniversary trip to Hawaii got the COVID kibosh, but we were happy to celebrate our fifteenth and sixteenth anniversary in 2021.

In April, The Beloved and I spent a week in Oahu, visiting Honolulu and the North Shore. It's the first time in our marriage we've been alone, without children, for a week. Woah! Love the kids, but love vacations too!!

On day one we walked around Waikiki, enjoyed Mexican food on the balcony of a yummy restaurant, and went shopping at Ross (We like Ross :). We went to the International Market Place but all the little shops were gone, probably due to COVID, so boo to that.

On day two we woke up and went jogging together. My lungs were brilliant in Hawaii and I could have ran for days. We then went on a four mile hike filled with stunning landscapes. We also were almost eaten by a not so stunning boar. Okay, maybe we just heard the boar but for the rest of the hike I had the "escape from boar and save The Beloved's life blueprints" rolling through my head. After our hike I was starving and when Cammy is hungry Cammy must be fed. It's The Beloved's favorite. We were dirty and sweaty from our hike but I talked The Beloved into eating at a fancy Italian restaurant. I'm pretty sure they had a dress code but I pressured the host into seating us. They sat us in a lonely corner, out of sight from the other diners. So funny. The food was freaking delicious. I'd do it again.

Day three we woke up early for a little deep sea fishing. Highlights: we saw hump back whales and dolphins, we each caught mahi mahi, and our fifty-ish year old captain had long bleach blonde hair and was shoeless. Love that authenticity. Downside: I not only gave The Beloved one Dramamine, but two! I thought I had purchased the non drowsy kind, but surprise, 'twas not so. He slept like a little merbaby.

Day four we checked out of our hotel in Honolulu and then spent the day at Pearl Harbor. It was so very humbling. I'm a sucker for my country and for those who serve and have served it so well. God Bless America. That evening we checked into our Airbnb on the North Shore. The Beloved cooked up our mahi mahi and it tasted like Hawaiian Heaven. I was soooo ready for bed that night and was upset that our hosts who lived nearby were partying and playing crazy loud music. I was about to give the hosts a piece of my mind when The Beloved informed me that it was only 7:30 p.m. Never mind. Party on.

On the fifth day we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. It was terrific like always and we enjoyed feasting at the luau. We may have gone to the beach that night. We went to the beach a few times... but I don't know.

Day six we met my lifelong friend, Camille, and her family at the beach. They live in Honolulu and were filled with the aloha spirit. After the beach The Beloved and I went horseback riding. This may have tied with deep sea fishing as my favorite Hawaii activity. It was almost perfect. Except our horses didn't like each other so when the guide took our "we're so in love couple pictures" we couldn't be too close to one another. Funny. That night Camille and Mark fed us a delicious seafood spread and we spent the evening enjoying their company. - we didn't take pictures with them so that's lame.

Day seven we attended a local ward at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then we headed for the temple. Afterward we went to the beach and then The Beloved made us another delicious meal. He's the cook when we go on adventures and he's dang good at it.

We flew back home the following day to our people that we love so dear. A shout out to my parents who manned the fort and lived to fight another day. What an incredible service. We appreciate them and we love them so.

Happy Anniversaries  to The Beloved! Thanks for being mine.

This year on our 16th anniversary date
