Easter Fail

How great was Easter?! And how wonderful was it that it fell on General Conference weekend? This General Conference. Wow. Powerful. So many inspired changes. Our house permeated with the feel of the spirit and the smell of cinnamon rolls as we cozied up on the couch together to hear the messages from the apostles and the prophet.
Every year we do an Easter basket hunt using clues from the scriptures. I usually just turn to the topical guide or index and search out the word I'm looking for. For example, if I want to hide a clue near the toilet I look for a scripture that has the word throne in it. We're super classy around here. I typically don't read the whole scripture though, I just write down the scripture reference. While flipping through my options this year I saw the word colt. Well, we have a son named Colt and I thought it would be super fun to hide a clue in his pocket. Here are my newly found words of wisdom. Always read the scripture first. (I've posted this particular one for you below.) Otherwise your kids may exclaim,  "It's on Colt's butt?!"
Dang.
We ended our Easter day at The Beloved's parent's house, chatting and playing with those we love. What a gift.
I am incredibly thankful for our Savior and the miracle of His resurrection. Because He lives so can we.

Who Wore it Best?

I showed up to an event a couple months ago ill prepared with clothing.  I needed something a little snazzier then a T shirt and jeans one evening so my six year old niece came to the rescue. She let me borrow her navy, star covered dress to snazzy up my outfit a bit. What a pal!
I thought that was the end of my fashion funniness until I showed up the next day wearing the same dress as one of my sisters. Surprise!  Good thing she has excellent taste. Love you girls!

Come to The LDS Family Fest/I'm a Utah Mormon

I'm not sure why I always shied away from being a Utah Mormon. My mom was raised a Utah Mormon, I married a Utah Mormon, and my relatives in Utah whom I adore are all freaking amazing Utah Mormons, yet I had this fear of becoming one. Of joining them.
But since moving here I have become sufficiently humbled. Utah and its people have given me a little bit of heaven on earth and now I am trying to convince everyone I know to move here. I have a "Why You Should Move to Utah" list that I give to my parents and siblings at least once a week.
For example since moving here I have heard President Oaks speak at a Regional event, Melanie Huscroft (the founder of Younique) and Madilyn Paige (a contestant on The Voice) were the keynote speakers at a Women's Stake activity, Linda K. Burton  (former General Relief Society President) spoke to us at a Relief Society Morning-side, and Tito Momen, author of, "My Name Used to Be Muhammad" came and presented at my book club two weeks ago. What is this amazingness?
Not to mention the majesty of the mountains, the view of Utah Lake, and hearing people refer to each other as brother and sister in the grocery store. Okay, so that's still a little weird, but it's growing on me.
Last night our family invested in the Monday Night Special at the Heber Valley Railroad. Oh my! We were dancing in the aisles! It was old school family fun and worth every cent.

So, what does any of this have to do with The LDS Family Fest? Well, it's another great activity plus it's for the whole family! It's a two day event, Friday August 3rd through Saturday August 4th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days. Tickets are all inclusive and are for both days. That means you can experience the Kids Zone, relish in the LDS presenters and performers (like Mercy River, Madeline Paige, and Anthony Sweat), do some DIY projects, a little family history, and shop around at more than 200 vendors and exhibitors.
And it gets cooler, right now tickets are buy one get one free until April 11th. Just use my promo code: 20TRAINING
If you stumble upon this post after the 11th, never fear. My promo code will still get you 20% off up until the day of the event.
Woohoo! Here's to embracing being a Utah Mormon! There are perks here my friends. Perks.
