In 2013 we sold our gold 2005 Buick minivan and purchased a new sleek, black Nissan Armada. It was the fanciest vehicle we had ever owned and my kids named it the Black Rhino. After driving it for a month though I realized this SUV was way too cool for me. I'm not fancy. I'm not cool.
At the time we were car shopping for The Beloved as well and while we were out and about I spotted my soul mate vehicle -a gold 2003 Ford Expedition that seated nine. I knew it was meant to be. I told The Beloved that I wanted to sell the Nissan Armada and purchase the Expedition ASAP. He looked at me like I was crazy. He said, "So basically it's our 2005 van that we just sold but older and has more miles?"
"Correct."
And then I smiled, and he in turn shook his head as he consented to go along with my new plan.
The Expedition fit us. I laughed every time I had to insert the cassette adapter so we could listen to songs on my phone. The Expedition was dependable, functional, affordable, and it was 10 years old, so if I wanted to throw a pizza to the children in the back seat, well then God speed.
This past summer my trusty sidekick decided to not be so trusty anymore and we had to say farewell. Already knowing that a new, beautiful SUV was not the route for us, I set my sights on this beaut. My new best friend car - the Ford Transit. It seats twelve, no kids have to touch each other, no one will have false expectations of my coolness, the cargo space is delicious, and UT drivers whether they like it or not, let me over when I put on my blinker and merge toward their lane because otherwise they'll die.
Win, win. I'd like to introduce you to White Shadow. (Yes, just like the snail in Turbo, so say it in a whisper voice.)

Road trippin' just got a little better my friends.

I think you're cool whatever you're doing. You're just a sweetheart and I think you're definitely terrific.
This is the coolest ever! People who grow up in big vans are quite extraordinary. You're children are so blessed!
