Mooster,
The big five has arrived. And you're ready for all of the next steps, like school. Which you've started already because I'm almost four months late writing this. Lame. When we went shopping for school supplies you could hardly contain yourself and when we arrived home you happily labelled everything and put it directly in your backpack. Then, for the next two weeks before school started, you wore your weighted down bag here, there, and everywhere.
But this isn't a new thing. One of your favorite things to do is shove your backpack full of stuff -stuff, stuff, stuff - random stuff, other people's stuff. You're not picky. If the granola bars go missing from the pantry I know where to check. In fact if anything goes missing we all say, "check Moo's backpack". And there are multiple backpacks, all overflowing with treasures, which makes this all the more fun. I should get rid of some, but I love the joy it brings your little heart.
For your birthday we had a party at the park during daddy's lunch break, then in the evening we had FHE at a friend's house and celebrated your birthday there as well. You copied Ruckus with your request for purple frosting, but you choose a vanilla flavored cake instead. Ruckus announced to the party that if they wanted a good tasting cake they should have gone to his party a couple days prior where chocolate cake was served instead. Goof ball.
The funniest gift you received were the maps you requested. You instantly began plotting out dragon hunting courses. Those maps were a constant in your backpack for weeks.
You have the creative gene and invent new art projects day after day along with your brothers. But your creativity isn't only limited to paper. This summer you created something called the "Rollie Pollie Service". When we'd go on walks you'd "rescue" a wandering Rollie Pollie and place it on the back of your scooter, right behind your orange winter boots you think are appropriate to adorn anytime of year. When you felt they had reached their desired destination you'd place them on the ground again. Unfortunately, the survival rate was low. When you'd shout out, "Rollie Pollie Service" while bending to pick up a new passenger I'd think, "Yep, a service to your death... " :).
You created some new family quotes this summer. One being, "But Mom, sushi is my jam." After I had encouraged you to eat the pizza I'd ordered instead of my California roll. Then, the second occurred while you were enduring a car ride home from Utah. Ruckus innocently asked you a question, to which you screamed, "DO YOU THINK I'M SMART OR SOMETHING? DO YOU? DO YOU?" I think you were surprised by the laughter that filled the car and when Dad butted into the conversation and said, "Yes, we do think you're smart." You laughed.
You have a very determined personality and are sincere when you say you think you're smarter than me. You really do. And when I end up being right, it's like you're amazed. We're working on becoming a little more humble around here - all of us. It never hurts, right? Plus, I know you'll use your determined and strong personality for good. It wasn't by chance that you were named after Teancum in the scriptures. You are destined for great things. Great, maybe hard things. I don't know what specifically, but I know you'll be valiant in fighting for truth and light. Sweetrotten is already following you, your every move in fact. Which means maybe don't take the step up to balance along the freezers at Costco. Just saying. But mostly you take good steps. You recently said that you like reading the scriptures because you learn about Jesus and Jesus is nice.
You're right -He is nice. And good. And everything we should desire to be. I love my little sweet Moo. Thanks for being my buddy.
Love,
Mom
