Lou Turned 8... Five Months Ago! Awesome Mom Over Here.

Blowing out the b-day candles

You read this book in one day!

Chillin' after the party, playing with his treasures. Look at his cute cousins, Trent and Hadley, playing together.

Pinata time! Here is Moo trying to crush the pinata.

We went out to dinner for Lou's b-day and our waiter give him tickets to attend the BSU football game.
The staff at IHOP  are singing Happy Birthday to him.

Lou,
What the world kid? You turned 8! And your mom is only five months late blogging about it. Sweet. We held your b-day party early this year because we were in the middle of moving and your little sister was due to be born in a couple of weeks. You're such an honest kid that when people asked you when your birthday was you didn't know if you should tell them your actual birthday or the day we held your birthday party. You didn't want to lead them astray. This year you wanted a Pokemon theme so we played a bunch of Pokemon games and broke open a Pokemon pinata. The day of your actual birthday we went to IHOP to celebrate and then you went to a friends house to play. Kind of lame - sorry pal. When your friend's mom called to ask if you could have a play-date I said, "Yes, that would be great. You see, it's his birthday and he will think this is really neat." She bought you a birthday cake and made you feel like a million bucks while you were there. I love other moms! She knew we were in a stressful, busy place in life and she stepped in to relieve my guilt and make you feel special. Because you are.
Your best friends at school are Beck and Paisli and I'm pretty sure you like a girl named Kendall but you aren't as open about things like that. It embarrasses you. She chases you at recess and you talk about her a ton but you impress upon us how much the two of you dislike each other. During Spring Break though you thought it may be lovely for her to come over and play.... hmmmm.... :) I wasn't forthcoming about those types of things when I was little either so I get it.
You're still doing awesome in school and have a math brain for sure but you get good grades all across the board. You've always enjoyed learning. Lately, I've been indoctrinating you in politics and we'll listen to talk radio in the car and you are passionate about it my friend. Yes! Someone I can talk politics with... finally. Actually, you were becoming so overwhelmed with current events that I had to balance out our talk radio time with other radio programs because you were developing heart break for the state of our nation and an intolerance of some present politicians and those running for office. It was a little too intense for your eight year old psyche. Sorry bud.
Dad recently gave you his old I phone and you love it - A LOT. It makes me go Grrrrrr but once in awhile it is cute when you, Little C, and your dad are all playing Clash of Clans together. Sometimes you get lost in the world of gaming but usually if I tell you, you've been on long enough, you agree and get off.
You still love to draw and create and most recently your new art is writing and illustrating stories.  You have the craft buddy. Your stories usually involve a group of friends who are in some type of a dilemma and there's always a comedic relief. You're cool.
You love to play with the baby, especially since she started smiling and being more interactive. The other evening you held her on her lap and had her laughing over and over again for a good half hour. You were laughing too and it made my mom heart soar. It is a gift for a mother to see her children loving and enjoying one another. You are a good brother, and an excellent role model. There's still a little control freak in there but you're tempering the urge. I love the closeness you share with Little C. Take care of that boy. He needs your light and your goodness. Not that he's not incredible himself but I see the lift you provide to his soul and I am so very thankful for that.
You have been our saving grace in getting you and Ruckus on time to school this year. You dependably wake up to your alarm clock every morning and get the ball rolling. While I'm feeding the baby, you wake up Ruckus and the both of you are all ready by the time I'm finished. What impressive young men I have in this household.
Lou, you are so very loved. Heavenly Father has blessed you with many gifts - the most important being your deep rooted testimony in our Savior Jesus Christ. Hold fast to that. Your testimony and faith will be attacked time and time again by the adversary. Satan wants you to lose. But, I know you'll remain valiant in living your beliefs. You're just that amazing.
I enjoy your little, but growing taller everyday (stop that) self! You light up my life.
Love,
Mom
