The C Dog.

Little C,
I look at you and want to squeeze you forever, loving the man you're becoming but missing the little kid I've loved for so long. I need time to pause. Stay little my friend. There's no rush to be big.
The rise to teenage-hood has been quite a ride thus far. The world tells you, you must have a phone, you  must has more FREEDOM, more media, and you may not survive without more entertainment, more, more, more....
and we're trying to teach you that more isn't always more.
Sometimes it means less.
Less time to be a kid.
Less time to develop that incredible brain.
Less time to be aware of and really know those you love.
Less time to feel the spirit.
And you handle this information pretty well.
Lou told me the other day that he is getting too old for toys.
Excuse me, what did you say my little First Grade Friend? I'm ready to throw the electronics out the window.
Luckily, you're great at rallying your brothers together to use their imaginations or have a good old fashioned wrestling match. Tears may ensue but at least you're bonding, learning how to forgive, defending one another, and mostly having a great time. Once a year you try to see if you can take me down yet. HA! Maybe in a year or two but thus far you've only suffered disappointment.
What can I say? :)
Much to my encouraging you decided to play basketball this year. (Not just because it's my favorite but because you're a great shot. )Thank you! Your skill level really increased and you had fun. A lot of fun.
You told me yesterday that your new sport is basketball but baseball is a close second. You also love MMA. Our deal is if grades are awesome this next quarter I'll sign you back up again.
You were in a school play this year which you said totally is not your thing but I think secretly is. There's a little dram-oid in that body. You played Tweedle-Dee and were the best part of the play. (I promise the other parents felt that way as well... even if they don't speak it aloud.)You and Tweedle-Dum were the comedic relief and it was hilarious. Humor comes naturally to you and you enjoy making people laugh.
You love your younger siblings and the youngest two especially melt your heart. Your sister thinks you're the best and even if Moo is being a fart you think everything he says is adorable. Thanks for loving them.
You have been blessed with a generous heart.
You are a gift to us.
I believe you are a gift to your biological father as well. His life is hard and different from yours but you are always there to love him.
You impress me.
You received the priesthood the Sunday after your twelfth birthday and I have noticed subtle changes in your behavior. Yesterday you told The Beloved about some great church talks to download onto his IPad and were inquiring as to how to take notes.
Grandma and Grandpa traveled from UT so they could be here to support you on your big day and Buckabu and Papa also attended church with us. So very many people love you.
You are sooooooo happy to be out of primary. Being with the older boys has been a blessing and you are learning so much from them and your church leaders. They have gone above and beyond about picking you up an hour before church to make necessary preparations and also taking you to deacons ball. They just show up! Never forgetting you and making sure you're included.
These things can change a life.
Little C - I love you. I love how you want me to sit on the edge of your bed at night just to chat and even if you have run out of things to say you'll come up with random questions just so we can talk longer.
You're a pretty cool cat my dear.
Love,
Mom
