I finally shut off my television that had been running since 7:30 this morning.
I woke up with such extreme hope and excitement for this election day and now my heart has sunk.
Oh America...
I don't understand the attraction to this president.
My desire is to wake up on the morrow and the media will report that corruption has been found in the counting of votes and announce Mitt Romney victorious.
How will we dig ourselves out of this hole?
I truly don't see an end in sight.
My personal game plan -
stock up on food storage galore
get completely out of debt
buy a gun (and learn how to shoot it)
and strive to be an example of virtue.
Because I feel like we've lost that - virtue.
Samuel Adams said,
"I thank God that I have lived to see my country independent and free. She may long enjoy her independence and freedom if she will. It depends on her virtue."
We must work on retaining it -
Jefferson said,
"Virtue is not hereditary."
I love, love, love my country - I truly hope the man we put back into office today is a patriot for our magnificent US of A and not against it.
The Beloved just walked in with scrumptious maple bars from Albertsons.
How did he know that would be the immediate gratification to dull my sadness?
Love that kid.
God Bless this country.
I'm going to go pig out.

Loved this blog post and amen to all of it!
I echo everything you said. Sad-- BUT, what can we do but have the faith that all will work out as it should? I had a dream last night that I woke up to the news reporting that the race was much closer than they had predicted last night-- how I wish that was true!
Sad too. As far as why the attraction to this president: I believe people see it as a choice between santa claus (gifts for everyone - i.e. dream act) and a school principal (expecting self control and following the rules).
You know what really makes me sad is that reading and watching all day today, lots of people think the republican party is stuck in the past and that unless we "get with the times" we will never have another elected Republican president. Why should we surrender our values to fit the popular trends of todays society? Not all of the members of the republican party are like Mitt Romney, who we knew would uphold our values we hold so dear. I am afraid that that is the way it's going to shift just to appeal to voters again. It's just so so sad. My stomach was in knots all day yesterday and I haven't had an appetite today. This is so serious and I can't believe how many people have no clue what they just voted for. We concur with your debt and food storage plan. I hope I am so very wrong, otherwise this will be a very bumpy ride.
I agree with Julie. I resent the fact that the republicans are pushed to "get with the times." I didn't quite wake up on election morning feeling too hopeful. I was bracing myself for the worst, which came to be. I guess the end is near............
