Do the Basketball Gods Hate Me?

Please head down memory lane with me for one moment - traveling
down a portion of a post made back in April (not to worry, I have highlighted key words :) :

Why did all of my teams thus far in the NBA lose their games?

Heat - Bulls - Nuggets - The Thunder

*Why do I hate the Jazz so much? Why did Daron Williams get a tattoo of a birthmark on his arm? Isn't that what it looks like? And Boozer... yuck... screams diva to me.

Sorry, one more b-ball vent and I'll be done.

*Is it naughty that I'm a tiny bit happy that LeBron is hurt? I hate that he is so good. So utterly cocky I can't stand it. I love that Michael Jordan doesn't react to his silly little gestures. No matter how good you are - Michael will always be better in the history books.

Now for the heartbreak:
Last week Lebron announced that he would be leaving the Cavs and will be joining the...
HEAT!!!
But wait, basketball fans, that's not all.
Boozer also made an announcement.
He just couldn't be left out could he?
He is going to be playing for none other than...
THE BULLS!!!

Are you as horrified as me?
(For those of you in Utah who are simply happy to be rid of Boozer, do not respond. That would be unkind.)
How am I to respond next season? What if the Bulls do really well and make the comeback I've been waiting for, for over a decade?
And the Heat?
They could win a championship!
Which is my greatest desire for my close friend Dwyane Wade (what, you don't think we're friends? :) -
but....
then there's Lebron...

I have no solution.

But, things change I guess.
I can't imagine having a change of basketball heart right now (or even ever, especially when it comes to Lebron and Boozer),
but down the line, things do inevitably change.

Take this hat for example. Looks pretty new huh?

Ten years ago I loved, loved, loved the Lakers (pre-knowing-Kobe-was-a-slime-ball-era).
I was thrilled when the Lakers won back to back championships. Hence the hat -
Recently, Little C has taken up playing baseball and is performing marvelously.
Before his last game he asked me if he could borrow a baseball cap. I said sure, and he started digging through the hat box.
When he met me at the van I saw him sporting my decade old Lakers hat. The tag which had accompanied the hat for the last ten years had, in Little C's excitement, been ripped off.
I must admit, I felt a little empty inside.
My hat.
It's funny how we get attached to stuff -
I had never displayed the hat.
I am sure it is worth nothing.
I don't even like the Lakers anymore.
IT HAD BEEN IN A BOX FOR 10 YRS !
time to let it go...
so he wore it to his game,
and he did super.
Stuff is just stuff -
and watching him run around the bases in that over sized, purple Lakers cap was the most joy that hat has ever brought to me.

Have not had a computer in so long, and right now we're just borrowing for a bit. But I read some of your recent blog posts and love them all. I loved what you and your hubby did for his birthday, how fun! I also love the multi tasking picture, don't you love being a mom? It's wonderful. You can do things you never thought you could do before huh? Anyways I hope life is wonderful for you. Hope you have a great week!

I'm truly impressed with your knowledge of sports. This is something that has gone since wife, motherhood etc. Little C is awfully adorable in that hat and playing ball.

I did NOT watch Lebron's announcement it made me vomit a bit that he had to drag it out for an HOUR -- not to mention made a circus act out of the NBA and took the hour to rub Cleveland's face in it -- so I boycotted. I have a reality show in my head that consists of Lebron James, Chad Ocho-Cinco and Terrell Owens can you imagine? Oh and add Kobe, I don't think there is a home big enough for their egos!

K-I got that out, I feel better.

well I am glad that you are trying to let go of things. Perhaps the NBA should be next. HAHAHA! MLB is where the good action is. ;) I loved seeing C in his baseball stuff. Pretty cute!

It's time to admit it. The NBA is lame. It took me some time to realize it, but some time aroud 2000 it hit me and I haven't looked back. I have 2 words for you...college basketball. It gives your the chance to cheer for people who want to be cheered, and actually feel like you are a part of something (ok, that was a little over the top). But, if you want to get over your sickness, I challenge you to take 2 teasponse of Utah State Basketball, and a Tablespoon of March Madness. It should clear this mess right up. If you don't, you'll end up with Boozer.
