Two true highlights of my day -
taking photos of that cute little baby crack.
He has no shame :)
and - discovering that a bottom does exist at the bottom of my laundry hamper - and in case I never see it again - I believe I will frame this photo - which will enable me to produce happy thoughts my whole life through.
Oh - the woes of laundry!
My mother taught me to choose one day a week to get all of the laundry done - This is what her mother did - what she does - and what I strongly believed I would do - Decision made, I decided Monday was the day for me and got to work - .... but soon enough it started running past Monday into Tuesday... well then it became a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday activity - and before I knew it -all five days of the week were included in "laundry day" -
But I didn't recognize the mess I was in until one Friday I had the thought, " I am so glad laundry week is over with" -
LAUNDRY WEEK! What the heck is laundry week?
What happened to my "laundry day", my beautiful, singular laundry day ?! I can't have a "laundry week"! THAT MEANS I'LL BE DOING LAUNDRY EVERY DAY FOR FIVE DAYS EVERY WEEK!
I would like to say there is a happy ending to this tale - and maybe one is in the works... laundry only occupied my M - Th schedule this week - and I have faith that it will get better before it gets worse -
but here's my next crazy thing:
What is this?
ANOTHER ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS PRACTICE I'VE PICKED UP!
This is the folded laundry that nobody in the family is allowed to touch but myself.
Oh for the love of a dumb rule!
My confession: I struggle, struggle, struggle at putting laundry away. I dread it. But - I can't have the clothes getting wrinkly - and I cannot have the piles getting messed up... therefore if the clothes are not put away - which they probably aren't - I must retrieve them for you.
Simply pathetic.
Here's to getting back to a "laundry day"/less OCD laundry pile freak 2010.
So now - to put a smile back on your face - please return to the first picture posted :)

I do have a laundry day...Monday. Which is also my least favorite day of the week for exactly that reason. However, they laundry sitting in the basket for an entire week without being put away is very common here too. I absolutely hate it. I am never sure why either because it really doesn't take that long. I have learned a recent trick to getting some of it put away. I decided Libbie and Mia were old enough to do their own clothes. It's a beautiful thing...
oh Cami how I wish you were here. Some people moved into your house as I'm sure you know and I honestly have no desire to get to know them because A. Kuna sucks, and B. I want to get the hell out of here. That's so rude. Anyways, back to laundry...I did the same thing as you, until I made up my own game to do 2 loads a day. I must complete them before 11 and then I treat myself to something like carbs. You should try it. Being a mom/wife sucks unless you trick yourself into thinking its your actual "Job" and make a schedule. Well, it's been working for me at least...i'm dumb. haha
You could always do what my wife did and get rid of all of your hubby's clothes except for two out fits. That way if he wants to wear something clean he needs to wash it himself while wearing his other clean pair. Be careful though, because I hid all of her underwear. I just wanted to do my part to ease the laundry load.
He does NOT do any laundry(he doesn't clean bathrooms either...maybe I should just leave it at he doesn't clean)...don't let him fool you. Most of the time his dirty clothes sit around in the living room b/c I want to see how long it takes him to say he doesn't have any clothes to wear and then I can smuggly point out that he's a lazy butt and all his clothes are on the floor. On the subject of how laundry is done...you and I are very similiar. Our clothes don't get folded until I'm ready to put them away, so they'll often be in a big pile in the basket. Here's to a new year though!
Oh and maybe I should take Eric's advice and get rid of everything but his uniform and workout clothes. He just made my "job" easier. Ha ha!
You crack me up. It seems the going tale around here is this...Alex runs out of whites, so he ends up doing the laundry when he gets home. All of our laundry!! :) Truly though...the folding thing. I gave up a LONG time ago on that one. My girls have made their floor into a personal closet, so I am constanly shoving clothes back into their drawers. Ok clothes come out of dryer, baskets lined up with each childs name. I sort of chuck what is theirs into their own basket. When laundry is done it gets placed into thier drawer as is. Nice huh? Sorry Kami S. that you HATE Kuna! I used to feel more like that, but I'm getting better with it I think.
The joys of laundry! I DREAD putting away too. I LOVE to fold because it means I get to sit on my fat rump and stare into oblivian, watch the kids fight, or watch The View.
oh, cammy, we were born to be sisters. that picture of the baskets lining the hallway was like staring into my own abyss of laundry. my excuse is that i put them there because usually the only time i have to fold them is at night while i'm watching tv and the kids are sleeping and i can't go in there NOW can i when they are so peacefully asleep...but then my excuses run out when they sit there a week. i had a laundry day. friday. but one friday i found myself doing 15 loads of laundry, and i thought you know what, i cave. i give in. i have subscribed to doing a load a day. put one in in the morning before i do dishes and fold after dishes. i hate the laundry every day, but one load...10 minutes tops and i'm done for the day. it's helped the craziness... plus i assigned scott the hanging up, which i hate the most. it is now his chore and i refuse to do it, like the garbage and unloading the dishwasher. :)
We were born to be sisters, too....When we are independantly wealthy I am going to hire someone to be the laundry queen - and it WON'T be me. I can't do laundry once a week or become overwhelmed. A few loads a day makes me a lot less cranky and mental. Each of my kids has their own laundry basket. Most of the laundry makers are finally old enough to put them in their drawers if I sort the piles into segments: shirts, unders, pjs, etc. Getting their laundry put away is just part of getting their room clean. - Which can be another adventure...
